Effects of Workplace Uncivilized Behavior on Emotional Exhaustion in Clinical Nurses:the Mediating Role of Hostile Cognition,Anger and Anger Rumination
Objective:To explore the effects of workplace uncivilized behavior on emotional exhaustion in clinical nurs-es and the mediating role of hostile cognition, anger and anger rumination. Methods:Totally 1 146 clinical nurses were in-vestigated with workplace uncivilized behavior scale, hostile cognition scale, state anger scale, anger rumination scale and emotional exhaustion scale. Results:The mediating effect tests showed that workplace uncivilized behavior directly influ-enced the level of the emotional exhaustion in clinical nurses(effect sizes 0.42).Hostile cognition, anger and anger rumina-tion played mediating roles between workplace uncivilized behavior and emotional exhaustion.Specifically, workplace un-civilized behavior affected emotional exhaustion in three ways:one was the single mediating role of hostile cognition(effect sizes 0.15),the second was the chain mediating role of hostile cognition-anger(effect sizes 0.08),and the third was the chain mediating role of hostile cognition-anger-anger rumination(effect sizes 0.04).Conclusion:Workplace uncivilized behavior can influence emotional exhaustion through hostile cognition, anger and anger rumination in clinical nurses.
