The Relationship between Problematic Social Media Use and Interpersonal Distress in Adolescents:The Mediating Role of Fear of Missing Out in Social Media
Objective:To explore the relationship between adolescents'problematic social media use,fear of missing out in social media and interpersonal distress.Methods:A sample of 2074 middle school students were tested with the problematic social media use questionnaire,the fear of missing out questionnaire and the interpersonal relationship compre-hensive diagnostic scale.Results:①Problematic social media use,fear of missing out in social media and interpersonal distress were significantly and positively correlated with each other.②Problematic social media use affected interpersonal distress through the mediating role of fear of missing out in social media.Conclusion:Fear of missing out in social media partially mediates the relationship between problematic social media use and interpersonal distress.
