The Relationship between Interparental Conflict and Conflict Resolution Strategies for Undergraduate Students:Mediating Effect of Parent-child Triangulation and Its Gender Difference
Objective:In order to explore the relationship and internal mechanism between interparental conflict and conflict resolution strategies of undergraduate students within a family systems theory perspective.Methods:1444 under-graduate students were tested by the children's perception of interparental conflict scale, triangulation scale and conflict resolution strategy questionnaire.SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 24.0 were used for data analysis.Results:(1)Triangulation,such as cross-generational coalition and aggressive circuitous, mediated the relationships between interparental conflict and con-flict resolution strategies;(2)Gender played a moderating role between interparental conflict and obliging/compromise strat-egies.In the boys'group, the mediating effect of non-fixed cross-generational coalition in interparental conflict and oblig-ing strategies was not significant.Non-fixed cross-generational coalition partially mediated parental conflict and compro-mise strategies, while it was a full mediating effect in the girls'group. Conclusion:This study provides an effective entry point for colleges to carry out family education and crisis intervention to cultivate students'conflict resolution ability.
