Maternal Meta-Emotion Philosophy and Preschoolers'Social-Emotional Behavior Problems:The Mediating Role of Inattention,Interference,Punishment,and Environmental Ambience
Objective:To investigate the relationship between maternal meta-emotion philosophy and preschoolers'so-cial-emotional behavior problems,and to test the mediating role of maternal inattention/interference/punishment behaviors and environmental ambience.Methods:Adopting a cross-sectional design,770 mothers of 4~6 year-olds in Hangzhou were invited to complete the Parental Meta-Emotion Philosophy Scale(PMEPS),the 3~6 Years Child Home Nurture Envi-ronment Scale(CHNES),and the Age and Stage Questionnaire:Social-Emotional,Second Edition(ASQ:SE-2).Results:Maternal emotion coaching and emotion dismissing affected preschoolers'social-emotional behavior problems directly or through inattention/interference/punishment and environmental ambience indirectly;Emotion dysfunction affected pre-schoolers'social-emotronal behavior problems through inattention/interference/punishment and environmental ambience indirectly.Conclusion:Maternal meta-emotional philosophy significantly predicted preschoolers'social-emotional behav-ior problems,and inattention/interference/punishment and environmental ambience mediated between maternal meta-emo-tional philosophy and preschoolers'social-emotional behavior problems.
