The Revision of Comprehensive Relative Autonomy Index in Chinese Parents
Objective:According to self-determination theory, the present study explores the reliability and validity of comprehensive relative autonomy index in Chinese parents. Methods:A sample of 1392 Chinese parents were measured by using the Comprehensive Relative Autonomy Index, the Parental Care and Tenderness Questionnaire(PCAT)and Parental Burnout Assessment(PBA);62 parents were randomly selected to measure test-retest reliability(four weeks later).Re-sults:The result of EFA obtained six factors, including amotivation, external, negative introjection, positive introjection, identified, and intrinsic motivation which accounted for 70.45%variance.The analysis of CFA showed good structural fit of the six factors(x2/df=4.93,GFI=0.88,CFI=0.90,IFI=0.90,NFI=0.88,RMSEA=0.075).The Cronbach's α of all factors ranged from 0.79~0.91,and the retest reliability ranged from 0.10~0.56;the RAI was positively correlated with parental care and tenderness(r=0.25,P<0.001)and negatively correlated with parental burnout(r=-0.51,P<0.001),which indicated that the C-RAI had a great reliability and convergent validity. Conclusion:The C-RAI has good reliability and validity in Chinese parents and it can be used to measure the internalization of parental motivation in the Chinese context.
