A Study of the Effectiveness of the Rorschach Test in the Identification of Depression in College Students
Objective:To investigate the effectiveness and predictive model of the Rorschach Test in identifying depres-sion among undergraduate and graduate students in universities. Methods:This study combined the results from a ques-tionnaire screening and the diagnosis by a psychiatrist to divide the participants into a positive group(n=30)and a control group(n=30).Participates in the positive group met the clinical diagnostic criteria for depressive disorders, and the control group consisted of normal university students.Differential tests, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used to examine the effectiveness of the Rorschach Test depression index(DEPI).Results:①The DEPI showed good inter-rater re-liability(r=0.923,P<0.01).②The DEPI achieved an F1 score of 81.9%in identifying depression.③A binary logistic re-gression model was built with five Rorschach variables(S,SumC',Col-shd,MOR,PureH)as independent variables, which had an F1 score of 89.8%for depression identification. Conclusion:The Rorschach Test can effectively identify depres-sion among college students and can avoid the concealment and falsification associated with self-report questionnaires, making it a powerful supplement to traditional depression screening tools.
