The Effect of Parental Education Anxiety on the Phone and Tablet Addiction in Primary and Middle School Students
Objective:This study aims to investigate the influence and mechanism of parental education anxiety on the phone and tablet addiction of primary and middle school students.Methods:A total of 1345 pairs of primary and middle school students and their parents completed Parental Education Anxiety Scale,Parental Psychological Control Scale,Intol-erance of Uncertainty Scale,Phone and Tablet Addiction Scale.Results:The chain mediation model fitted well.Parental education anxiety not only directly predicted the phone and tablet addiction of primary and middle school students,but also played a predictive role through three indirect paths:the simple mediation of parental psychological control,the simple me-diation of intolerance of uncertainty,and the chain mediation of parental psychological control and intolerance of uncertain-ty.Moreover,school section had a significant moderating effect on the chain mediation model.Compared with primary school students,the effect of parental psychological control on middle school students'phone and tablet addiction was still significant,but smaller.Conclusion:In order to prevent or alleviate primary and middle school students'phone and tablet addiction,not only parents should reasonably deal with educational anxiety and reduce use of psychological control,but al-so primary and middle school students should strengthen their tolerance for uncertainty.And researchers also need to pay at-tention to the particularity of different school sections,and carry out targeted intervention and guidance.
