Marital Quality and Coparenting Conflict:The Moderating Role of Child Temperament and Number of Children
Objective:To explore the moderating roles of child temperament and number of children on the relationship between marital quality and coparenting conflict,so as to examine moderating factors in parenting vulnerability.Methods:A sample of 364 families was tested by Coparenting Scale,Marital Inventory and Parent Temperament Questionnaire.Re-sults:Father and mother marital quality had negative effect on coparenting conflict.Rhythmicity,approach and withdrawal of children moderated the associations between marital quality and coparenting conflict,while number of children and their intensity of reaction did not play a moderating role.Father marital quality had lower negative relationship with coparenting conflict when child had higher rhythmicity.Mother marital quality had lower negative relationship with coparenting conflict when child had higher approach and withdrawal.Conclusion:Child temperament moderated the associations between mari-tal quality and coparenting conflict,and father and mother vulnerability had different protective factors.
