Objective:To explore the relationship between bullying victimization and different types of aggression,such as proactive and reactive aggression,as well as their underlying mechanisms.Methods:A longitudinal follow-up survey of 809 college students from three universities in China was conducted using the Forms of Bullying Scale,the Reactive-Proac-tive Aggression Questionnaire,the Violent Attitudes Scale,and the Basic Empathy Scale.Results:Bullying victimization indirectly predicted proactive and reactive aggression.It was found that violent attitudes(T2)mediated the longitudinal rela-tionship between bullying victimization(T1)and proactive(T3)and reactive aggression(T3),and empathy(T2)only mediat-ed the longitudinal relationship between bullying victimization(T1)and proactive aggression(T3).Conclusion:Bullying victimization can indirectly predict proactive aggression by violent attitudes and empathy,while bullying victimization only indirectly predict reactive aggression by violent attitudes.
