Relationship between Social Comparison and Online Compulsive Buying in Vocational School Students:A Moderated Mediation Model
Objective:To explain the relationship between social comparison and online compulsive buying of vocation-al school students,and the role of materialism and self-concept clarity in the relationship between them.Methods:1177 vocational school students were surveyed with Social Comparison Scale,Online Compulsive Buying Scale,Materialism Scale,and Self-Concept Clarity Scale.Results:(1)Social comparison positively predicted vocational school students'on-line compulsive buying;(2)Materialism played a mediating role between social comparison and online compulsive buying;(3)Self-concept clarity significantly positively moderated the influence of social comparison on materialism,with the im-provement of self-concept clarity of vocational school students,the predictive effect of social comparison on materialism was enhanced.Conclusion:Social comparison influences online compulsive buying through materialism,and this mediat-ing effect is moderated by self-concept clarity.
