Process and Effect of Career Construction Sandtray Therapy on Career Adaptability in College Students
Objective:To explore the process and effect of career construction sandtray therapy(CCST)on career adapt-ability of college students.Methods:Twelve clients were randomly divided into intervention group and waiting group.The intervention group received CCST once a week for 4 consecutive weeks,while the waiting group had no intervention.After the control,the waiting group was given the same process of intervention.Quatitative and qualitative methods were com-bined to evaluate the effects of the intervention,using the Career Adapt-Ability Scale-China(CAAS)and the Student Ca-reer Construction Inventory(SCCI),and qualitative interviews were conducted after the intervention.Results:In between-group comparison,after receiving CCST,the post-test scores of CAAS(t=4.891,P=0.001)and SCCI(t=6.345,P=0.000)were significantly higher than that in the waiting group.In within-group comparison,when the data from the intervention group and the waiting group that received the intervention were combined and analyzed,the scores after intervention were signifi-cantly higher than that before intervention,and there was no significant difference in the scores one month after the interven-tion.A total of 12 clients received intervention completed qualitative interviews,and the results of the qualitative analysis showed that the contents of CCST helpful for college students included exploration,insight,and action.Conclusion:Career construction sandtray therapy can effectively improve career adaptability of college students and help them solve career problems.
