Association between Internet Addiction and Depressive Symptoms in College Students:A Chain Mediating Model
Objective:To explore the chain mediating role of cybervictimization,cyberbullying,and psychotic-like ex-periences(PLEs)between Internet addiction and depressive symptoms.Methods:A total of 5824 college students were sampled to fill out the Revised Chinese Internet Addiction Scale(CIAS-R),Cyberbullying Behaviors Scale(CBS),15-Item Positive Subscale of the Community Assessment of Psychic Experiences(CAPE-P15),and 2-Item Patient Health Question-naire(PHQ-2).Results:Depressive symptoms were significantly and positively correlated with Internet addiction,cyber victimization,cyberbullying,and PLEs.Five meditating path that Internet addiction through cybervictimization to depres-sive symptoms,Internet addiction through cyberbullying to depressive symptoms,Internet addiction through PLEs to depres-sive symptoms,Internet addiction through cybervictimization and PLEs to depressive symptoms,Internet addiction through cyberbullying and PLEs to depressive symptoms were all significant.Conclusion:There is cybervictimization,cyberbully-ing,PLEs in chain mediating role between Internet addiction and depressive symptoms.
