The Impact of Workplace Ostracism on Employee Family Undermining:A Moderated-mediation Model
Objective:This paper explores the influence of workplace ostracism on family derogation and the mecha-nism of fundamental needs and job embeddedness.Methods:In this research,the workplace ostracism scale,the funda-mental needs scale,the job embeddedness scale and family derogation scale were selected.Data were collected from in-ser-vice personnel from enterprises,institutions,and government agencies at two-month intervals,with a total of 337 valid matched questionnaires collected.Results:The workplace ostracism positively predicted family derogatory.Fundamental needs played mediating roles between workplace ostracism and family derogation respectively.The job embeddedness mod-erated the negative predictive effect of fundamental needs on family derogation.The higher the level of job embeddedness of employees,the stronger the negative predictive effect of basic needs on family derogation.Conclusion:Workplace ostra-cism can not only affect family derogation directly,but also affect it through fundamental needs.In addition,job embedded-ness enhances the negative predictive effect of fundamental needs on family derogation.
