Mental Health Status of Family Members of Organ Donors and Its Relationship with Trait Mindfulness
Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the mental health status of the family members of de-ceased organ donors and to examine the relationship between the trait mindfulness and the mental health status of the fami-ly members of organ donors,to provide a basis for the development of psychological intervention programs for the family members of organ donors.Methods:Contacted the organ donor's family point-to-point through the organ donation coordi-nator,and according to the principle of voluntary consent,we used the Impact of Event Scale-Revised,the Mindful Atten-tion Awareness Scale,the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale to administer questionnaires to the families of organ donors.SPSS 26.0 was used to analyze the survey results.Results:A total of 155 val-id questionnaires were received,the detection rate of post-traumatic stress disorder was 61.94%(96/155),the detection rate of depression was 40.65%(63/155),the detection rate of anxiety was 30.97%(48/155),and the trait mindfulness score was 63.67±12.76 among organ donor families.Trait mindfulness levels of organ donor family members were negatively correlat-ed with traumatic stress disorder(B=-0.068,P<0.05),depression(r=-0.066,P<0.05)and anxiety(r=-0.075,P<0.05).Con-clusion:With a high prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder,sadness and anxiety,the mental health issues of family members of organ donors following the death of a citizen demand immediate care.Trait mindfulness in family members of or-gan donors is closely related to their mental health.
