Mental Health Literacy on Mobile Phone Addiction in Vocational College Students:A Mediated Moderation Model
Objective:To explore the influence of mental health literacy on mobile phone addiction in vocational college students,and the mediating role of psychological distress and the moderating role of dispositional mindfulness.Methods:A total of 4993 vocational college students were tested with the mental health literacy scale(MHLS),mobile phone addiction index(MPAI),Chinese versions of depression anxiety and stress scale(DASS-21)and mindful attention awareness scale(MAAS).Results:Firstly,there were significantly negative relationship between mental health literacy and mobile phone addiction,psychological distress,but significantly positive relationship with dispositional mindfulness.In addition,psycho-logical distress was significantly positively correlated with mobile phone addiction.There were significantly negative rela-tionship between dispositional mindfulness and psychological distress as well as mobile phone addiction.Secondly,Psycho-logical distress played a total mediating role in mental health literacy and mobile phone addiction.whereas,dispositional mindfulness played significant moderating role in psychological distress on mobile phone addiction.The effect of psycholog-ical distress on mobile phone addiction was alleviated for individuals with lower level of mindfulness compared with those with higher level of mindfulness.Conclusion:Mental health literacy affects mobile phone addiction through psychological distress,and dispositional mindfulness has moderating impact of psychological distress on mobile phone addiction.
