Childhood Trauma and Aggression:The Chain Mediating Effect of Insecure Attachment and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation
Objective:To explore the effect of insecure attachment and difficulties in emotion regulation in the relation-ship between childhood trauma and aggression.Methods:A total of 851 clinical patients from psychological clinics com-pleted the childhood trauma questionnaire,attachment style questionnaire,difficulties in emotion regulation scale,and Buss-Perry aggression questionnaire.By combining item response theory and structural equation modeling,a path model was constructed with childhood trauma,insecure attachment,difficulties in emotion regulation and aggression included.Re-sults:Childhood trauma had no direct effect on aggression(β=0.06),but indirectly affected aggression through insecure at-tachment,and also through the path of insecure attachment→difficulties in emotion regulation.Conclusion:Childhood trauma indirectly affects aggression.With its mediating role and chain mediation with difficulties in emotion regulation,in-secure attachment plays an important role between childhood trauma and aggression.
