The Developmental Trajectory and Influencing Factors of Subjective Mobility Beliefs among Children from Poverty-alleviated Families
Objective:To explore the developmental trajectory of subjective mobility beliefs and related influencing fac-tors among children from poverty-alleviated families. Methods:A three-year longitudinal study, consisting of three waves, was conducted with 748 students(448 primary school students and 300 middle school students)from poverty-alleviated families in Hunan Province, using the subjective mobility beliefs questionnaire, the parental marital risk questionnaire, and the school connectedness scale.Results:(1)The linear growth intercept of subjective mobility beliefs among children from poverty-alleviated families was significant at both primary and secondary school stages, while the slope was significant only at the secondary school stage and not at the primary school stage;(2)Parental marital risk and school bonding had signifi-cant impacts on both the linear growth intercept and slope of subjective mobility beliefs in primary school students. For sec-ondary school students, parental marital risk significantly affected the linear growth slope, whereas school connectedness significantly affected the intercept. Conclusion:The secondary school stage is a critical period for the development of sub-jective mobility beliefs among children from poverty-alleviated families.Parental marital risk and school connectedness are important influencing factors of their subjective mobility beliefs, with their effects and mechanisms being influenced by the age of the children.
