The Relationships between Positive Risk-taking Experiences and Depression of College Students:The Chain Mediating Roles of Autonomy and Self-Esteem
Objective:To explore the relationship between positive risk-taking experiences and depression among col-lege students and the serial mediating role of autonomy and self-esteem in it.Methods:939 college students were investi-gated by using the positive risk-taking scale,the adolescent autonomy scale,the self-esteem scale and 16-item quick in-ventory of depressive symptomatology self-report.Results:(1)Positive risk-taking experiences negatively predicted de-pression in college students;(2)Autonomy and self-esteem played separate and chain mediating roles in the relationship be-tween positive risk-taking experiences and depression,respectively.Conclusion:Positive risk-taking experiences can con-tribute to alleviating depression among college students,with autonomy and self-esteem playing important roles.
