Effect Testing of Improving the Quality of Grandparent-Child/Parent-Child Interaction in Left-Behind Preschool Children's Families Based on Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Objective:To modify the intervention program based on the parent-child interaction therapy(PCIT),taking into account the characteristics of families with left-behind young children, and to examine its applicability and effective-ness in improving the quality of grandparent-child/parent-child interaction in left-behind preschool children's families. Methods:A total of 18 families with left-behind preschool children were participated in this study(9 families in experi-mental group and 9 families in control group),with each family consisting of one young child, one grandparent and one par-ent.The experimental families participated in grandparent-child/parent-child interaction intervention for 8 weeks. The ap-plicability was assessed through indicators such as families'participation and approval of the program. The effectiveness was evaluated through indicators such as the quality of grandparent-child/parent-child interaction and parenting efficacy. Results:The modified intervention program was applicable to families with left-behind preschool children. In the experi-mental group, the scores of parent-child interaction quality, the efficacy of grandparenting, and the efficacy of online parent-ing by migrant parents were significantly increased;the scores for intensity of children's problem behaviors and behavioral distress were significantly decreased. Conclusion:The revised intervention program has both applicability and effective-ness.
