Abstract
Objective:This study aims to clarify the epidemiological characteristics of mental health issues among uni-versity researchers and to analyze the independent effects and interaction mechanisms of multidimensional factors,includ-ing psychological resilience, family functioning, and research environment. Methods:A cross-sectional study was con-ducted from September to November 2023,involving 645 university researchers from 19 provinces in China via an online questionnaire. Results:Among the 645 university researchers surveyed, the prevalence rates of moderate-to-severe insom-nia,anxiety,and depression were 42.0%,43.8%,and 42.4%,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that research engagement was significantly associated with insomnia symptoms, with highly engaged individuals having a 5.12-fold higher risk of insomnia compared to those with low engagement.Psychological resilience exhibited a nonlinear re-lationship with mental health, with the moderate-resilience group showing a 5.87-fold higher risk of insomnia than the low-resilience group.Academic conference attendance frequency was negatively correlated with mental health issues, with those attending≥3 conferences annually having a 94%lower risk of insomnia compared to those rarely attending(OR=0.06).Fam-ily functioning assessment indicated that the high-functioning group had a 0.31-fold lower risk of insomnia compared to the low-functioning group. Conclusion:This study demonstrates a high prevalence of insomnia, anxiety, and depression among university researchers, with their occurrence strongly associated with high research engagement, moderate psychological re-silience,and chronic work-related stress.
