Application effect of the situational simulation case teaching based on standardized patients for pharmacy undergraduates
AIM To evaluate the application effect of scenario simulation case teaching method based on standardized patient for pharmacy undergraduates.METHODS A scenario simulation case teaching group was formed, teaching cases were prepared,a scenario simulation case teaching program of"medication guidance"based on the standardized patient scenario simulation case teaching method was designed, and training was provided to teachers and standardized patients. There were 2 classes of undergraduate pharmacy students enrolled in the clinical pharmacotherapeutics course.A class of 60 undergraduate pharmacy students served as the control group taught by conventional teaching. And 59 pharmacy students from another class served as the trial group taught by standardized patient scenario simulation teaching. The students in the trial group evaluated the teaching effect using the"simulation design scale"and"debriefing assessment for simulation in healthcare(DASH)".Students in both groups participated in the"medication guidance"case evaluation and the evaluation scores of 2 groups were compared.RESULTS A total of 57 effective simulation design scales were collected. The overall score of SDS presence features was 93.19±9.46,and the overall score of importance features was 93.56±9.28.A total of 50 effective DASH scales were collected. The overall score of DASH was 130.24±14.12.The test scores of the trial group were higher than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The standardized patient scenario simulation case teaching method is effective for undergraduate pharmacy students, which could improve students'interest in learning and develop their comprehensive abilities.
