Effectiveness of a self-cultivation model for TDM pharmacists based on a morning meeting system
AIM To assess the impact of implementing a morning meeting system on the professional skill development of therapeutic drug monitoring(TDM)pharmacists through a self-cultivation model.METHODS The morning meeting system was established to compare the differences in the number of adverse events reported by TDM pharmacists, the average time taken to achieve one daily procedure, job satisfaction,self-efficacy,pharmacist competency, turnover time and overtime rate in the laboratory, the timeliness of critical value notification, the error rate of test reports, the recall rate of reports, the satisfaction of doctors, nurses and patients, the number of laboratory complaints, and the satisfaction of TDM pharmacists with the training model before and after the implementation of the morning meeting system.RESULTS After the implementation of the morning meeting system,27 adverse events reported per month(P<0.01),the average completion time for each daily procedure reduced to 1.5d(P<0.05),self-efficacy(3.7 points),job satisfaction(3.8 points),pharmacist competence(79 points),the timeliness of critical value notification(97.09%),and patient satisfaction(89%),the turnover time(23.04 h)and overtime rate(0.5%)of pharmacogenomic testing in the laboratory showed significant improvement than those before the implementation of this system(P<0.01).There was no significant change before and after implementation in the satisfaction levels of medical staff,TDM laboratory turnover time and overtime rate, and the number of laboratory complaints(P>0.05).TDM pharmacists hold a positive attitude of over 80%towards the improvement of personal professional skills, clinical thinking, communication and collaboration, summary and writing, and self-directed learning in the morning meeting system, especially with 100%satisfaction with the improvement of personal professional skills.CONCLUSION The implementation of the morning meeting system effectively improved the clinical service skills and pharmaceutical care quality of TDM pharmacists, and fully demonstrated the value of pharmacists'work.
