Location Changes of Li Shimin's Palace during the Wude Period of Tang Dynasty
The location of Li Shimin's Palace(Qinwang fu,秦王府)during the Wude period of the Tang dynasty was unknown because of the misunderstanding in Tang Liangjing Chengfang Kao《唐两京城坊考》)written by Xu Song(徐松).After analyzing Lu Dafang's Chang'an map(《长安图》)and Tai Chi Palace Map(《太极宫图》),this paper finds that Li Shimin had lived in the Chengqian Palace in the west side of Tai Chi Palace from the early Wude period.In the July of fifth year of Wude period,Li Shimin moved to live in Hongyi Palace in the northwest side of Tai Chi Palace,which provided convenient for Li Shimin to enhance forc-es and stage a coup.Chengqian Palace and Hongyi Palace were located in the west side of prince's Palace(Dong gong,东宫),which produced the concept of"West Palace"(Xifu,西 府)referred to Li Shimin's Palace.
