There has been long-term controversy about the specific process of the battlefield between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Xixia Dynasty in the Zangdihe City(藏底河城),as well as doubt about the location of the Zangdihe City.This paper argues that the Xixia Dynasty assaulted the Dingbian Jun(定边军)in 1114 AD that established by the central government during the Northern Song Dynasty,but finally failed.The Xixia army turned to build the Zangdihe City.The Song army assaulted this city but failed in the following year.In 1118 AD,the Song Dynasty dispatched troops to assault this city again and finally suc-ceeded.The Song Dynasty established the Weide Jun(威德军)as the administrative division in this city.Re-fer to the archaeological materials and field investigation,this paper determined that the ruin of Hailuo city(海螺城)in the Dingbian County(定边县)was the location of the Zangdihe City during the Song and Xixia dynasties.
