In Yuan dynasty Jinan area,there were professional groups with varying levels of technical proficiency in building brick mural tombs.The Twenty-four filial piety stories were traditional themes for the engraved bricks.In Jinan area,local styled folklores on filial piety were also popular.Yuan dynasty mural paintings in Jinan not only contain the traditional image with a female and a half-open door but also include door openers with different genders and ages.The practice of using pottery tiles and porcelain jars for burials was established in the Yuan dynasty and continued into the Ming and Qing dynasties.The using of tomb stones was prevalent solely in the Yuan dynasty and limited to certain areas.The Yuan dynasty Guo family cemetery M15 in Jinan,with abundant carved bricks and mural paintings,multi-type unearthed objects and clear dating,provides representative material for the study of late Yuan dynasty burial customs in Jinan region.
