Based on the literature on the canals in the Qi state recorded in the Records of the Grand Historian-Rivers and Canals Volume, and starting from the ancient city of Qi state in Linzi, this paper investigates the canal of Qi state in the Eastern Zhou dynasty through archaeological explorations. It can be inferred that the Qi state connected the Zihe and Guji rivers during the Eastern Zhou by digging ditches and canals. The canal includes at least four sections, one of which is an artificial channel between the Zihe River and the Wuhe River, with a length of about 5 kilometers; The second is the artificial channel, the grain transport river, between the Wu River and the system water, with a length of about 9 kilometers; The third is to renovate the Wuhe River natural westward channel from the Tonglin site in Linzi to Sancha Village in Huantai, about 12 kilometers in length; The fourth is an artificial river channel between the Wu River and the Guji River, with a length of about 35 kilometers. The section from the No.3 drainage outlet of the ancient city of Linzi to the Jishui ancient road is basically in a straight line from east to west, with a total length of about 55 kilometers.According to its functional value,it can be called the"Zi-Ji Canal".This discovery provides a new perspective for examining the political economy, water management, trade exchanges, cultural exchanges, and other aspects of the Qi state from the Zhou dynasty to the Han dynasty, filling the gap in the study of Shandong's canal history and early canal culture.
