The Huangshan cemetery is located within the Huangshan and Penghu villages of the Jinan Ecological and Cultural Tourism Zone in Jingzhou City,Hubei Province.From June 2002 to October 2004,the Jingzhou Museum carried out rescue excavations at the cemetery to cooperate with the construction of the Xiangyang-Jingzhou Highway.A total of 678 tombs were excavated.The tomb M338 was a well-preserved brick-chambered tomb.A dozen of artifacts,including a piece of rare marbled porcelain,gold and silver wares,bronze wares,and bone wares,as well as 115 copper coins,were unearthed.The tomb can be dated to the middle of the Northern Song dynasty based on the tomb structure and the artifacts excavated.The discovery of this tomb enriched our understanding of the shape and system of the Song Dynasty tombs in southern China and provided important materials for the study of the burial customs in the Song dynasty.
