Influence of Different Environmental Conditions on Respiration Rate of Cryptolestes ferrugineus
The present study focused on the important stored grain pest Cryptolestes ferrugineus to clarify the effects of different environmental conditions(different temperatures and wheat humidity)on the respiratory rate of C.ferrugineus at different developmental stages and phosphine resistance levels. The results indicated that the respiratory rate of the adults was significantly higher than that of the larvae, and the respiratory rate of the larvae was significantly stronger than that of the pupae in C.ferrugineus.The respiratory rate of C.ferrugineus exhibited an increasing trend with the rise in ambient temperature and moisture content of wheat.Notably, the peak respiratory rate of C.ferrugin-eus was attained in an environment with a temperature of 35 ℃ and a wheat moisture mass fraction of 14%.
