Comparative Analysis of Calculation Methods for Permeability Coefficient of Soft Soil in the Yangtze River Floodplain Area
Soft soil(Aquitard)is an important component of groundwater systems, mainly composed of soils with lower permeability coefficients such as clay, sub clay, and silty clay. Its permeability coefficient is of great significance in practical engineering seepage calculation. The study focuses on the weak permeable layer on the south bank of the Haitai River Passage Project in the soft soil area of the Yangtze River. The empirical formula method(indoor geotechnical particle size test),micro water test wiring method, and numerical simulation inversion method are used to calculate the permeability coefficient of the weak permeable layer. The results obtained are:7.196×10-5,1.50×10-5 and 8.10×10-5cm/s;Multi method mutual verification reduces the impact of factors such as small scope of influence and sampling randomness of a single method.According to the most unfavorable principle of engineering, the recommended permeability coefficient of the aquitard in the research area is 8.1×10-5cm/s.
