Analysis on Coal Prospecting Prospects in Southeastern Wuwei of Gansu Province
Numerous Jurassic small coal gathering basins have been developed along the north Qilian of the Hexi Corridor. The Carboniferous System of the Wuwei Basin has developed a self-generating and self-storage type of production and storage cover combination, but the degree of exploration and research on the Jurassic System is relatively low.By analysing the Jurassic paleogeography and later tectonic features along the southeastern part of Wuwei City,it is concluded that the Middle Jurassic strata of the study area as a whole was constructed as a lake-marsh-phase coal-bearing detritus, and was in a warm and humid environment of rivers, marshes, and shallow lakes in a phase-reduced environment, which possessed the favourable conditions for the deposition of Mesozoic coal deposits and preservation of the coal system. The characteristics of the structural units and systems control the coal-forming process in the study area, the secondary uplifts are favorable locations for the future coal exploration.
