Study on Late Quaternary Sedimentary Evolution in Northwest the Pearl River Delta
Through the in-depth study of the strata and sedimentary evolution process in the northwest of the Pearl River Delta, the results show that the study area has developed sedimentary facies such as fluvial facies, coastal facies, shallow marine facies, and river sea mixed facies;the sedimentary thickness changed greatly during the late Pleistocene, and the vertical facies changes of the strata were similar;during the Holocene period, the overall sedimentary thickness did not differ significantly, and due to the influence of sedimentary environment and topography, the vertical sedimentation of the strata showed a synchronous and heterogeneous distribution.Since the late Quaternary period, the sedimentary history of the study area has undergone frequent phase transitions between land and sea, forming complex and diverse delta sediments.
