Research on the Potential for CO2 Geological Storage in Shale Reservoirs in China
With the increase of global carbon emissions and severe climate warming, carbon storage has gradually attracted attention.CO2 geological storage is a very effective way to reduce carbon emissions, and shale is a carbon storage geological body with broad prospects.China has many large shale oil and gas basins and widely developed shale reservoirs, which have huge potential for CO2 geological storage and can improve oil and gas recovery.Based on previous studies on shale CO2 geological storage, this paper sorted out and determined that CO2 in shale reservoirs is mainly trapped by adsorption, and further summarized the influence of factors such as temperature and pressure, organic matter content, and pore structure on carbon storage in shale reservoirs. At the same time, based on the reservoir conditions of main shale oil and gas areas in China,a preliminary carbon storage potential evaluation was conducted. The results showed that the total amount of CO2 stored in shale is about 463 Gt,which is equivalent to China's carbon emissions for more than 40 years. The potential for CO2 geological storage in shale reservoirs is huge and worthy of attention.
