Prevalence and epidemiological investigation of Stage B heart failure in Shenzhen adults
Objective To understand the prevalence or epidermiological characteristics and relative factors of stage B heart failure in the adults of Shenzhen and provide the reference basis for developing the heart failure prevention and control policies. Methods The data were from the 2021 Shenzhen Heart Failure Epidemiologic Survey, and the multistage stratified random sampling method was used to select 6 128 reidents(≥ 18 years old)as the subjects. The investigation was performed with the general information questionnaire, physical measurements, and echocardiography examinations to obtain information about heart structure and function.Rao-Scott x2 test, multifactorial binary logistic regression, and unordered multinomial logistic regression based on a complex sampling design were used to analyze the sensitivity. The used software was R 4.1.3.Results After weighted, the prevalence of stage B heart failure in Shenzhen was 14.45%(95%C/:12.88%-16.12%),and the prevalence rates of both heart structural and functional abnormalities, structural abnormalities and functional abnormalities were 1.33%(95%CI:0.92%-1.84%),9.77%(95%CI:8.44%-11.23%)and 3.35%(95%CI:2.80%-3.96%),respectively.Multivariate analysis showed that aged 45 to 64 years(OR=1.51),65 years and older(OR=2.85),retired or jobless or unemployed(OR=1.63),overweight(OR=2.11),obesity(OR=4.09),hypertension(OR=1.65)and other cardiovascular diseases(OR=4.27)were associated with higher risk of stage B heart failure, and dyslipidemia(OR=0.77)was associated with lower risk of stage B heart failure(P<0.05).Conclusion Stage B heart failure is generally prevalent in Shenzhen, and active measures should be taken to prevent or delay its progression to symptomatic heart failure.
