Analysis of coexistence patterns and influencing factors of health-endangering behaviors in left-behind adolescents
Objective To understand the coexistence patterns and influencing factors of health-endangering behaviors in left-behind adolescents, and provide the scientific basis for the development of targeted preventive and control measures. Methods From March to May 2022,the random cluster sampling method was used to select 2 061 left-behind adolescents from 8 middle schools in Guizhou Province,Hunan Province,Hubei Province and Chongqing as the subjects. The investigation was performed with the basic information questionnaire,Chinese adolescent health-related/health-endangering behaviors questionnaire, adolescent non-suicidal self-injurious behavior questionnaire, simple depressive symptom scale, mobile phone dependence index scale, school sense of belonging scale, adverse childhood experiences questionnaire, general self-efficacy scale, and self-control ability scale. The latent category analysis was used to explore the coexistence patterns of health-endangering behaviors, the used software was Mplus 8.3.The x2 test,one-way analysis of variance and disordered multi-classification logistic regression model were used to analyze the data, the used software was SPSS 25.0.Results The latent category analysis showed that the left-behind adolescents'health risk behaviors could be classified into three patterns:addiction and violent behavior pattern group(155 cases,7.5%),depression and self-injurious behavior pattern group(610 cases,29.6%)and low-risk pattern group(1 296 cases,62.9%).Multivariate logistic regression analysis found that as compared with the low-risk pattern group, the left-behind adolescents with Han nationality(OR=0.530,95%CI:0.321-0.875),high score of school belonging(OR=0.828,95%CI:0.775-0.885)and high score of self-control(OR=0.914,95%CI:0.896-0.932)had the lower risk of entering the addiction and violent behavior model group;the left-behind adolescents with male(OR=2.501,95%CI:1.664-3.758)and high score of adverse childhood experiences(OR=1.590,95%CI:1.444-1.751)had the high risk of entering the addiction and violent behavior model group;the left-behind adolescents with male(OR=0.726,95%CI:0.578-0.912),high score of school belonging(OR=0.850,95%CI:0.814-0.887)and high score of self-control(OR=0.924,95%CI:0.913-0.936)had the lower risk of entering the depression and self-injurious behavior pattern group;the left-behind adolescents with junior middle school section(0R=1.537,95%CI:1.184-1.995)and high score of adverse childhood experience(OR=1.412,95%CI:1.317-1.515)had the high risk of entering the depression and self-injurious behavior pattern group(P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion The health-endangering behaviors in left-behind adolescents can be divided into three coexistence patterns:addiction and violent behaviors, depression and self-injurious behaviors and low-risk.Prevention and control measures should be taken for adolescents with weak sense of belonging in school, many adverse childhood experiences and weak self-control ability, the coexistence of the health-endangering behaviors of the left-behind adolescents should be gradually improved.
