Progress in research on characteristics of CD4+CD28-T cells and their roles in diseases
In healthy young people, the expression of CD28 in regular CD4+T cells is 97.5%.However,studies have shown that in the elderly and patients with chronic inflammation and persistent infection, the positiveness of CD28 in CD4+T cells decrease significantly, even less than 50%,that is,the accumulation of CD4+CD28-T cells.CD4+CD28-T cells are a unique subset of CD4+T cells. In this review,we describes the characteristics of phenotype and function and their roles in chronic viral infections, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases of CD4+CD28-T cells, providing new strategies for the treatment and prognosis improvement of CD4+CD28-T cell-related diseases.
