Advances on Vaccines of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus
The bovine viral diarrhea virus(BVDV)consists of 3 subspecies including BVDV-1,BVDV-2 and BVDV-3,and it is an important viral pathogen causing enormous losses to cattle industry.Vaccination is one of the main strategies for prophylaxis and contributes to the control and eradication of many viral diseases including BVDV.The structural proteins E2 and Erns of BVDV are the main antigenic proteins that induce production of neutralizing antibody and stimulate protective immune response, they are the also commonly used target proteins in BVDV vaccines research. In this review,we are focusing on the pathogenic structure of BVDV,the immune response of the host against the viral infection, and the recent advances of both classic vaccine and novel recombinant vaccine of BVDV,aiming at providing reference for the BVDV vaccine field.
