Molecular Detection of Genetic Defects in Holstein Bulls in Hebei
Embryonic mortality and calf malformations due to genetic defective diseases are among the most important causes of dairy production.Strengthening the detection of genetic defect disease has a crucial role in the selection of improved varieties of Holstein cattle in China. In this study,we used the established molecular detection method of 9 defective genes to detect the genetic defects of 38 bull frozen sperm from the breeding station of Hebei province, and analyzed the distribution of genetic defects in Holstein bulls. The results showed that the carrying rates of CVM,HH1,HH3,BS,HH5 and HH6 were 2.60%,2.60%,10.50%,2.60%,7.90%and 5.30%,respectively,and no carriers of HH4,BLAD and HCD were found. The results showed that there were a certain proportion of genetic defect carriers in breeding bulls in Hebei area.It was suggested that scientific seed selection and selection measures should be taken to avoid the negative effects of genetic defect on dairy cow production when using frozen sperm.
