Progress on the Effect of X Chromosome Genome on Production Traits in Dairy Cattle
The search for quantitative trait loci(QTL)affecting traits of interest in mammals is usually limited to autosomes, and X chromosome variation has not yet been included in genomic prediction equations used to estimate animal breeding values. In contrast, the X chromosome,as the second largest chromosome in cattle, bears important biological significance, and as genomic work has intensified, functional studies of genetic variation on the X chromosome have increased, and the inclusion of X chromosome genomic marker information in analyses can improve the prediction of genomic breeding values. In this study,we reviewed the progress of research on association analysis of genes on the X chromosome with traits such as milk production, reproduction, health, body size and productive longevity in dairy cows, with a view to providing assistance in research to improve the production performance of dairy cows.
