In vitro Antibacterial Test of 28 Traditional Chinese Medicines and Their Compounds against the Pathogenic Dacteria Staphylococcus aureus of Dairy Cow Mastitis
To screen traditional Chinese medicine that has antibacterial effects on the pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus of dairy cow mastitis, and analyze the antibacterial effects of some combinations of traditional Chinese medicine. The experiment used water extraction method to extract the effective ingredients of 28 traditional Chinese medicines, with a drug concentration of 1 g/mL;On the basis of measuring the antibacterial effects of 28 traditional Chinese medicines using the test tube double dilution method and the plate drilling method,a pair of highly sensitive and extremely sensitive traditional Chinese medicines to Staphylococcus aureus were selected for combination. The MIC value of the double traditional Chinese medicine compound was measured using the micro broth dilution chessboard method, and the FIC index of the double traditional Chinese medicine compound was calculated. The results showed that 17 out of 28 traditional Chinese medicines exhibited varying degrees of antibacterial effects on Staphylococcus aureus.Among them,Honeysuckle,Terminalia chebula,Dandelion, and Glycyrrhiza uralensis had more prominent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, with a inhibition zone of 15 mm,MIC7.81-15.63mg/mL,and MBC15.63-31.25mg/mL;The FIC indices of the three double combination traditional Chinese medicine formulas of Chezi+Dandelion,Honeysuckle+Dandelion, and Honeysuckle+Chezi against Staphylococcus aureus were 0.75,0.75,and 1.00,respectively,mainly manifested as additive effects; The FIC indices of three dual combination Chinese herbal formulas, namely honeysuckle+licorice, chebula+licorice, and dandelion+licorice,on Staphylococcus aureus were 1.50,1.50,and 2.00,respectively,indicating an unrelated effect. The above results indicate that the antibacterial effect of a dual combination Chinese medicine compound composed of traditional Chinese medicine with good antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus will be enhanced.
