Research Progress on Locomotion Traits of Holstein Cattle
Locomotion was used to measure the movement ability of Holstein cattle,and was incorporated into the population improvement traits in Canada,Germany and other countries.The evaluation method and research progress of gait of Holstein cattle are reviewed in this paper.The results showed that locomotion was a low heritability trait,but it was related to body condition score,leg and feet,somatic cell count and so on.It was a valuable breeding trait.The domestic research on cow locomotion is limited and difficult to apply,so the research on cow locomotion will be paid more attention.
