Recent progress of targeting the ferroptosis for the treatment of secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage
The secondary brain injury after intracerebral hemorrhage(SBI-ICH)contributes to irreversible damage to neurons.Emerging evidences have shown that ferroptosis is involved in the pathological process of SBI-ICH-related neuronal death.Accumulating studies have suggested that the inhibition of ferroptosis may effectively prevent neuronal damage. The authors systematically summarized the pathological pathways of ferroptosis following ICH and then reviewed the application of ferroptosis inhibitors to mitigate neuron death induced by SBI-ICH,in order to provide help for the exploration of prevention and treatment of cerebral hemorrhage.
