Internal carotid artery fat embolic stroke:a case report
Cerebral fat embolism(CFE)is a rare type of stroke.Ovarian foramen ovale is not completely necessary for a CFE,and fat particles can bypass the pulmonary circulation, for example by penetrating pulmonary capillaries.CFE of the large intracranial vessels should be treated with mechanical thrombectomy as soon as possible.Complete and large fat emboli of non-medical cerebral embolism are very rare. These emboli are flexible and have strong deformability,so the first-line strategy recommended is to remove the emboli by negative pressure suction with a large diameter aspiration catheter. In this paper,we reported a case of internal carotid artery fat embolism stroke patient who received intravascular interventional therapy and analyzed the literature reports to provide references for clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
