Development of Community Garden in Australia and Its Enlightenment to China
In some developed countries, community garden is popular and provides a place for people to contact nature and relax. In China, the development of community garden is still in the exploration stage, and learning foreign experiences is of benefit to the development of community garden. In this paper, the development status of community garden in Australia was introduced in detail. Three community gardens located in residential area, school, and park were taken as examples to analyze the benefits of the community garden to vulnerable groups, such as the lonely people, the elderly, children and the disabled, illustrating the significance of community garden to the improvement of people's physical and mental health and the sustainable development of the society. Finally, according to the successful experience of the community garden development in Australia and China's present situation, we put forward suggestions on the construction of community garden in China. On the one hand, we should fully utilize urban space and ensure legalization of the land, on the other hand, we need the cooperation and efforts of relevant government departments, nonprofit organizations, relevant institutions and citizens.
