In order to systematically sort out the progress of Styrax research and application,and to provide reference for the research,conservation and utilization of Styrax,the geographical distribution and classification,biological and ecological characteristics,propagation and cultivation,and application value of Styrax at home and abroad were summarized.The research progress in the horizontal and vertical distribution of Styrax,the main classification basis,flowering biology,seed biology,ecological characteristics,live seedling and asexual propagation technology,medicinal value,economic value,ornamental value and other directions were generalized by key points in this paper.It was pointed out that there were problems such as limited research species,single research field and insufficient introduction and protection of Styrax.It was proposed that the protection of endangered species of Styrax should be strengthened in the future,as well as the introduction and domestication of the original species and the development and utilization of the new varieties of Styrax.
