Transforming Agricultural Education for a Changing World of China and the U.S.in the New Century
The National Research Council of The National Academies issued Transforming Agricultural Education for a Changing World in 2009.This document constituted a significant follow-up to the 1992 report,Agriculture and the Undergraduate and had been characterized as the American counterpart to the"Emerging Agricultural Education"paradigm.Through a comprehensive analysis of five dimensions-student demographics, institutional structures, higher education systems, agricultural practices, and career pathways, the report articulated nine strategic recommendations to catalyze the metamorphosis of agricultural education. These recommendations held considerable pertinence for China's ongoing efforts to establish its own model of Emerging Agricultural Education. In recognition of its import,Nanjing Agricultural University has undertaken the translation and dissemination of the report's Chinese iteration, thereby facilitating its engagement by Chinese scholars and practitioners within the agricultural educational sphere.
