Competitiveness and Complementarity of Fruit and Fruit Products Trade between China and Other Members of RCEP
This paper combed the characteristics of China's trade in fruits and fruit products with other RCEP member countries from 2005 to 2022,and used empirical measurement indices to measure the competitiveness and complementarity of fruits and fruit products. The study found that:China's trade in fruits and products with RCEP members has been in deficit in recent years, trade is relatively concentrated in terms of both countries and varieties, with the proportion of China's trade in RCEP fruit products increasing year by year. The competitiveness of the traditionally dominant fruits, citrus, grapes and apples, have all shown a downward trend in recent years, and fruit products are highly competitive.Fruit trade between China and ASEAN is strongly complementary, mainly in terms of the structure of China's fruit imports matches well with the structure of fruit exports from New Zealand,Laos, the Philippines,Myanmar and Thailand, and fruit and fruit products trade is mainly inter-industry trade. In the future,China should focus on improving the quality of fruit products, promoting the deep processing of fruit products, optimizing the trade structure with other RCEP member countries, and fully exploiting the trade potential.
