Experience of Agro-ecological Construction in the Mekong River Basin and Its Implications for China's Yangtze River Economic Belt
Agro-ecological construction is the inevitable path to achieve sustainable agricultural development.Since the 1980s,the"high-input,high-energy-consumption,high-pollution"agricultural development model has led to soil and water pollution, increasing the pressure on the ecological environment. It is urgent to accelerate the transition to efficient,energy-saving,and sustainable agriculture of high quality.Taking the countries in the Mekong River Basin as an example, this article analyzed the current development status of agro-ecological construction in these countries, summarized the experiences of agro-ecological construction in the Mekong River Basin countries, benchmarked the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and proposed strategies and suggestions for agro-ecological construction. The study found that the experiences of agro-ecological construction in the Mekong River Basin countries include the Myanmar agro-ecological construction supported by hard constraints, the Thailand agro-ecological construction centered around cooperatives, the Laos agro-ecological construction adapted to local conditions, the Vietnam agro-ecological construction empowered by digitization, and the Cambodia agro-ecological construction focused on strengthening climate adaptability.Based on this, the article proposed improving the top-level design, accelerating the layout of agro-ecological construction in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, strengthening the role of new types of market entities to drive the participation of small farmers in agro-ecological construction, exploring development models suitable for different regions of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, developing digital agricultural industries, and creating a smart and efficient agricultural production model, and adopting diversified measures to enhance climate adaptability and promote sustainable agricultural development.
