DIFFERENT MODES OF LAND CONSOLIDATION,FARMLAND FRAGMENTATION AND FARMERS'ECOLOGICAL PRODUCTION BEHAVIOR——TAKING THE APPLICATION OF PESTICIDES AND FERTILIZERS AS EXAMPLES
This research aims to reveal the effect of different modes of land consolidation on farmers'ecological production behavior, and explore new ways of the sustainable agricultural production and ecological health.Based on the framework of"land consolidation-farmland fragmentation-farmers'ecological production behavior",and the panel data of 483 household surveys in Tianmen,Qianjiang,Xianfeng and Xuanen counties in Hubei province, the difference-in-differences model was embraced to analyze the effect of different land consolidation modes on farmers'ecological production behavior. The results were showed as follows.(1)Land consolidation promoted large-scale agricultural operation and mechanization by reducing the degree of cultivated land fragmentation, and effectively decreased the input of chemical fertilizers and pesticides per unit area. Thus,it could help shape farmers'ecological production behavior.(2)Compared with the government-led mode, the market-led mode took the development of modern agriculture as the guidance, gave full play to the main role of farmers, and strengthened the coupling linkage between land consolidation and farmland transfer. So,the market-led model was more conducive to improving the degree of farmland fragmentation and had a more obvious effect on promoting the ecological production behavior of farmers. Therefore,it is necessary to take the reduction of farmland fragmentation as the core of land consolidation. While consolidating and improving the government-led model,we should increase the support for the market-led model. And we should also strengthen farmers'awareness of ecological protection and social responsibility, and constantly promote the mode innovation of land consolidation. In addition,we can give full play to the important role of land consolidation in shaping the ecological production behavior of farmers, realizing sustainable agricultural development, and building an ecological health security system.
