AGRICULTURAL GREEN PRODUCTIVITY AND THE MISSION OF SEED INDUSTRY INNOVATION
General Secretary Xi Jinping's significant statement that "green development is the cornerstone of high-quality development,and new quality productive forces inherently embody green productivity" not only highlights the fundamental connection between new quality productive forces and green productivity but also provides valuable guidance for the high-quality development of modern agriculture,including the modern seed industry. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,particularly with the comprehensive promotion of the seed industry revitalization action,China's modern seed industry had made substantial progress in laying a solid foundation for agricultural green productivity. This progress was evident in the significant improvement of the seed industry's indigenous innovation capability,the enhanced vitality of seed innovation entities,the gradual improvement of the seed innovation guarantee system,and the green orientation of seed innovations. Development of agricultural green productivity entails,under the guidance of the New Development Concept,harmonizing economic,social,and ecological benefits in the farm sector. This involved leveraging new technologies such as biotechnology,digital technology,and advanced manufacturing technology to achieve new quality productive forces that synergistically promoted increased production and income,efficient resource utilization,environmental friendliness,and prosperity and well-being. Therefore,in the new era,the development of the seed industry must be guided by the concept of green productivity,with scientific and technological innovation as its core,industrial innovation as its foundation,and industrial demand as its orientation. It is crucial to promote institutional and mechanism innovation and the development of seed talent,accelerating the creation of a high-level seed industry scientific and technological innovation system.
