THE IMPACT OF FARMLAND QUALITY ON THE WILLINGNESS TO BE COMPENSATED OF FARMERS FOR AGRICULTURAL CHEMICAL INPUT REDUCTION
The quality of farmland is a consideration for farmers to make agricultural chemical inputs, and analyzing its influence on farmers' willingness to be compensated for the reduction of agricultural chemical inputs can provide a reference for the formulation and implementation of ecological compensation policies. Based on a survey of 942 farmers in Shandong Province, this study examined the effect of farmland quality on willingness to be compensated for agricultural chemical input reduction and the mediating effect of farmers' behavior and governmental behavior by using the Order Probit model. The results were listed as followed. (1) The higher the quality of farmland, the higher the willingness of farmers to participate in the ecological compensation for agricultural chemical input reduction. (2) The more farmers prefer high-risk options, the more willing they were to participate in ecological compensation and the lower the amount of compensation they want. (3) In the relationship between the influence of farmland quality on the willingness and amount of compensation for agricultural chemical input reduction of farmers, the behavior of farmers had a masking effect and a chain intermediary effect between the behavior of farmers and the behavior of government. (4) Farmers in counties along the Yellow River were more reluctant to participate in the agricultural chemical input reduction compensation action. In conclusion, the ecological compensation mechanism for agricultural chemical input reduction should be built on the basis of farmland quality differentiation;According to the characteristics of farmers and the actual production and operation situation, and in accordance with the different needs of farmers, technical training and relevant supporting policies should be used to help farmers improve and stabilize the output value of farmland and further improve the anti-risk ability of farmers;Reasonable control should be carried out according to the behavior of farmers, and the government's supervision on pesticide and fertilizer input should be strengthened.
